What is a Hot Rolled Round Bar?

An SS hot rolled round bar is produced by heating stainless steel billets to a suitable rolling temperature and passing them through a series of rolling operations to achieve the required cross-section and dimensions.

Hot rolling is commonly used for larger bar sizes and applications where the material will undergo further machining, fabrication, forging or other secondary processing. The hot rolled condition provides a practical and cost-effective starting material for a wide range of engineering and industrial applications.

Applications of Stainless Steel Hot Rolled Round Bars

Stainless steel hot rolled round bars are commonly used as starting material for components that require further machining, fabrication, forging or other secondary processing.

Typical applications include:

  • Engineering components
  • Machined components
  • Automotive components
  • Industrial machinery
  • Shafts and pins
  • Mechanical parts
  • Fabricated components
  • Industrial equipment
  • Process equipment
  • Pre-processing for bright bar production

The required stainless steel grade should be selected according to the operating environment, mechanical requirements and manufacturing process of the finished component.

Why Source from a Vertically Integrated Manufacturer?

Maruti Inox manufactures hot rolled round bars at its facility in Mehsana, Gujarat, with 60,000 MTPA rolling capacity and 12+ in-house testing laboratories. Every supply is backed by a Material Test Certificate confirming the applicable chemical composition and mechanical properties.

Bars are available across 200, 300 and 400 series grades under a TÜV SÜD ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system, supporting consistent quality and controlled production across grades and profiles.

  • Full Material Traceability: MTCs provide relevant heat number, chemical composition and mechanical properties for the supplied material.
  • In-House Quality Control: Material is inspected and tested at applicable stages before dispatch.
  • Integrated Manufacturing: In-house melting, Continuous Cast Billets production and rolling provide greater control over material and production consistency.

How to Select the Right Hot Rolled Round Bar

Selecting a hot rolled stainless steel bar starts with understanding the requirements of the finished component. Important factors include:

Material Grade: Select the stainless steel grade according to corrosion exposure, mechanical requirements, temperature conditions and fabrication or machining requirements.

Bar Shape: Round, square and hexagonal profiles can be selected according to the component design and subsequent manufacturing process.

Bar Diameter or Section Size: The required starting size depends on the final component dimensions and the amount of material that will be removed during machining or other processing.

Supply Condition: As-rolled, heat-treated or straightened material can be selected according to the customer’s processing requirements.

Required Length: Specifying the required bar length can help optimize material handling, cutting and downstream production.
